On the Structure of One Type of Sentences
Keywords:
sentence, structure, syntagmAbstract
A characteristic feature is created by the constructions, where between two verbs, the second of which is used in the subjunctive screeve, the conjunction rom is omitted and they are not separated by a comma, e.g., chveni mkhridan es aravitar shemtkhvevashi ar sheidzleba darches adekvaturi reagirebis gareshe “On our part, this cannot be left without an adequate response under any circumstances ”; ra sheudzlia gaaketos sakartvelos martlmadidebel eklesias krizisis gadasalakhavad “What can the Georgian Orthodox Church do to overcome the crisis?”; gtkhovt damnishnot aghnishnul tanamdebobaze “Please, appoint me to the above-mentioned position”. They are complex sentences in which the conjunction is omitted. If considered as a simple sentence, it turns out that two verbs are used, which is not characteristic of a simple sentence. We think that the main thing here is to determine the structure of the sentence. The addition or absence of a conjunction or comma does not change the issue – these are hypotactic sentences and their type will be determined depending on which member of the main clause is determined by the subordinate clause. It should also be noted that the structure of the sentence will become clearer if we use a comma in such forms, that will highlight the structure of the sentence and at the same time the rule accepted in punctuation will not be violated: where a conjunction rom is omitted but is implied, a comma is used.
